EWIS Cafe conversation today: Do tech companies realize that their work culture are designed for men to succeed? The breakdown of leadership and technical roles of females in the tech industry shows significantly fewer number of women in positions that directly influence their company's strategic direction or product development. There is a lot to do, but our girls see themselves as the drivers of that change.

We, young scientists at UC Davis mean business. Young STEM women grads and undergrads are all about empowering themselves and others. They echoed their sentiments at the EWIS cafe today on the importance of empowering each other by being allies to each other and being mentors along the way to kids younger to them.

EWIS just concluded its second EWIS cafe on the UC Davis campus. The young STEM women who attended the cafe are UC Davis students. They shared their upbringings and thoughts on how mentoring plays a huge role in encouraging young girls to study science. These young women want to empower middle school and high school girls by mentoring them and showing them the importance of scientific research and how their work can make a difference to the society at large.

EWIS held its first cafe of the series. Interesting discussions that arose surrounded child bearing responsibilities, balancing the act of having a family and career, and finding supportive partners who will be allies to STEM women.
