Amandeep co-founded EWIS along with a fellow graduate student, Erin Arms during the 2013-14 school year, when she was the graduate student assistant to the dean and chancellor, serving as a liaison between all graduate students and UC Davis administration.  Amandeep received her Ph.D. in physics from UC Davis in July 2014.  Her research concentrated on theoretical solid state physics.  She is passionate about bridging the gaps and changing the status quo to make it better for women in STEM.  She is actively working with stakeholders in industry, government and academia, and community partners to advance the mission of the EWIS program.

Erin Arms is a Ph.D. candidate in Integrative Genetics and Genomics.  As a member of the Chancellor’s Graduate and Professional Student Advisory Board (CGPSA), Arms currently serves on the Professional Development and Education committee – with a focus on STEM, as well as the Graduate Student Family Concerns committee, helping to identify the needs and concerns of non-traditional students.  She helped in co-founding EWIS program with Amandeep when they were both serving on CGPSA in 2013-14. Starting October 2015, Erin would be a CCST Science Policy Fellow in State Capitol in Sacramento.

Delaine Eastin, EWIS Advisor

Delaine Eastin is an American politician and the former 25th California State Superintendent of Public Instruction.  During her tenure, she cut class size and administrative costs, increased student access to technology, and helped 3,000 schools plant their own gardens.  Eastin, superintendent from 1995 to 2003 and the first and only woman to hold that post, is the 2015 recipient of the UC Davis Medal, the highest accolade that the campus may bestow upon an individual.  She serves on the EWIS advisory board and provides counsel to the EWIS core team on their programmatic initiatives.
